My exboyfriend who cares for me wants to see me on monday as "friends"... should I go?

2 wks ago, I b/c insecure and asked him if he thought our relationship is right bc he kept going out w/o me. I thought he was ashamed of me or somethin, so I kept pestering & askin him what the reason was. next day he revealed that it was because he wanted to be able to let loose without me around. After that, I said I was really okay with that, but he told me that we just fight 2 much and were not meant to be. A couple of days later he told me that he only wanted to remain friends and the fight made him hate "us" & that's not what he wanted. he asked me to give him time, & I have been trying my hardest to stay away. he even said that he does not wanna keep me waitin, but n the future there may be a possibility for us to get back together. We ran into ea other @ a bday party & hardly spoke, & he constantly looked away. his frens said he fell out of love with me, i asked bc i was upset.. and he said that he says i love you and baby by acc for a reason. what do i do? i want him back
