How do the Irish view the British in terms of the history of the Potato Famine of the 1840's?

I've always wondered how Irishmen feel about the British of the 1840's There was enough food in the Empire to alleviate the Great Famine. How are relations between the 2 groups today as a result of the events of 1840 to 1849?
