Is it okay to keep my puppy in the basement at night?

Nope, sounds like he has a very comfortable area for himself! My dog has free roam of a single room when there is no one to supervise, and he was kennel trained before that. It's for his own safety, and soon enough he'll be mature enough to be allowed free roam, and to sleep properly at night.
